Trump was indicted on fraud allegations from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose campaign promise, notably, was to “impeach” Trump.

Once the case reached the New York Supreme Court, the justice, Engoron, said “I am not here to hear what he has to say, now sit down” when Trump was defending himself on the allegations. This followed a questionable move of gagging Trump and his lawyers from speaking about the trial, while reportedly giving Bragg a free pass to say anything he wanted.
